Just got back from Mixtapes/Laura Stevenson & The Cans and it was awesome. New Mixtapes songs sound great! So do the new Laura and the Cans songs. Also I felt this needed to be said, Soupy from TWY was there and I think that it's cool that he goes out to shows and supports the scene when he's in town. Overall a great time.

Best show experience: Jimmy Eat World on Feb. 4th at Revolution at Ft. Lauderale. The venue was surprisingly less packed than I imagined it would be. I was right up by the barrier. I've been to some amazing shows in small venues that felt incredibly intimate. JEW managed to make a show in one of South Florida's larger venues feel like any of those shows. Jim Adkins plays with so much intensity and apparent love for what he's doing. The entire hour-and-a-half long set was entirely flawless. There may be another show that manages to bump this one out of first place, but this one will always be high on my list.

My best show experience is a Jimmy Eat World show too!
March 2nd, 2009. At the Ogden in Denver. It was on the Clarity 10 year anniversary show, so they played straight through Clarity, then about another hour long set of other songs. We were in the very front in the middle. Sang along so hard to everything.
After the show we went to eat with some friends, then went to get on the highway and spotted a small fire. We pulled over, looked over the guard rail on the side of the highway which was on a bridge at that point, and this warehouse was on fire below the highway, Someone had already called the police so we watched it. it got bigger, lit a light post on fire, which fell ontop of a semi truck and caught that on fire. it exploded. The firetrucks couldn't get to it because a train was passing in the way.
It doesn't really have to do with the show, at that point, but that whole night was incredible.

I went to the Evil Weevil showcase 2 nights ago and I had a ton of fun. Sundials had to drop because of van troubles which was a major bummer. And the one guy I knew had to leave early which was ANOTHER bummer but the show was still great. In total there were 9 bands, and I could talk about all of them but that would be boring. So I’ll just say that Restorations were AMAZING! It was a really impressive set. Spraynard and The Eeries were both great. The Holy Mess were really funny and played as few songs as possible to fit in more jokes. Big Eyes ripped through like 8 awesome Rock N’ Roll filled songs. And Everyone Everywhere played last and were great as well. I talked to Bill (co-runner of the label) and he was REALLY stoked to talk to me for the first time IRL after talking over the internet a few times. I don't know if it was because he had been drinking or because he was actually excited to meet me, but either way it was cool. He also said he'll be e-mailing me back about interning for the label during the summer; so I still have a shot at that! Overall it was a cool show and I got to see a lot of bands I've missed over the past few months.
